Eldorado Omega :: Emergent (High Grade Media)

Where noisier elements collide with suspended particles of dust and debris, Emergent carefully weaves industrial, ambient, and its mechanical echo with an astounding amount of fluid detail.

Fissures are split wide open

Covering rugged sonic territories is an understatement for Ryan Taylor’s baffling Eldorado Omega alias, as his latest Emergent album with High Grade Media was released early September 2021. Fissures are split wide open, darker layers evolve, and eerie soundscapes continue to unfold.

“Approaching the Wire” opens with hints of shattered mysteries and decomposed beatwork—it chugs along with bewilderment and flowing modular buzz. Elsewhere, captivating sound designs articulate around distant tones and drones as “Random Contact” and “Autonomous Communication” reveal. Abstracted rhythms and flickering data bursts expand and contract as pieces like the brooding “Extractor” emit a turbulent flow and “Within Wheels” packs its rumbling punch.

Eldorado Omega also unearths crunchy and dark ambient layers—”Recognition” could be considered the yin to the title track’s yang—opposing forces interact and distress signals scatter about. The closing “After” blends raw shoegaze elements and overflowing drum patterns amidst dense atmospheres ultimately offering the listener a full-scale soundtrack with no apparent beginning or end. All that remains is the space in between.

Where noisier elements collide with suspended particles of dust and debris, Emergent carefully weaves industrial, ambient, and its mechanical echoes with an astounding amount of fluid detail.
