Reflective of the scintillating beats forecast by fellow Canadian Plus 8 Records, the best electronic sound festival on the planet, Mutek, has launched its own label, or simply continues what they started a few years back with Egg’s flamboyant Don’t Postpone Joy. Sound samples and funky animated surroundings make this a baudy effort that just tweaks our sensibilities. Unlike Plus 8 this one is bloated with kitschy twists and punchlines – its humor bellows for miles. At a generous 70 minutes, it’s a continuous mix of fun upbeats for the lazy Autumn set. Come on people, get up! If memory serves, these dudes opened this year’s Mutek festival and consisted of a trio that incorporated cool elongated videotronics alongside their awake house-approved electronic wizardry. This just uses every possibility to entertain and never tires for a moment. Be forewarned – this is a blend of quiet chill out spaces with quirky, tenacious cahones. A colorful trip that takes its title awfully seriously.
