[Release page] Ian G.’s extended player—available as vinyl or digital—for Lovethechaos emits a struggle between finding itself in a maze of crumpled signal-processing and organized chaos. As decomposing electronics nudge their way through, each piece uncovers a balance of noise, bass, various lyrical samples and voices that somehow melt into the audio field. Filled with industrialized dub, aquatic shifting and smoldering rhythms, there’s a subdued pulse that slithers around on this compaction of sound. The most coherent of the quintuplet is the ricocheting frequency bump’n thump of “Frilha,” a flowing collection of underground bass—akin to Einoma dropping their weighty low-end into a mechanical vise to break it down further. Elsewhere, on the opening “Look Back” and “Media Manipulation,” there’s a deconstructed formation of electronics that veers more on the experimental / improvisation range as it rattles the senses along the way. “Melted,” perhaps the most apt title, radiates its smog of collapsing digital flux and processed clips, clattering and rugged sonic debris to keep the ears confused. In the end, there’s a positive note in the title of this EP; its contents may register in the muddy digital-to-analog discipline, however, each individual who gives this release a chance will inevitably be consumed by its tangled wiring, torched lyrics and fuzzy manipulations of sound design.
