Diving straight into early synth soundscapes and vortices, literally, Eden Grey’s latest EP captures vintage electronic forms and crunched rhythms (“And Ever”) on this five track for Triplicate. Honing her skills behind sonic machinery, brisk and bumpy blips and bleeps scatterer about (“Grey Rain and Silver Clouds”) as softer tones and melodic pulsars emanate (“They Love Eden Grey.”) And it’s within the darker slabs that we find shiny metallic rhythms appear (“Glow Flow” and the closing drone ripples of “Trenches”) where Eden Grey’s sound comes full scale with vast dystopian and exploratory post-ambient/downtempo shifts. A spellbinding quintet that propels a sonic inertia right from the start.
