Eden Grey :: Int-Interred (EC Underground)

Int-Interred is a baffling and murky electronic smorgasbord showcasing artistic range and cultivating unique, if not moody, arrangements.

Focusing on the many noises in between

Eden Grey (aka Dr. Chelsea Bruno) revealed Int-Interred in late December of 2022, and while its exploration of darker modular sound worlds remains intact, the album somehow slipped through the cracks but we’ve latched onto it now. Presented with a cassette and a book portfolio, the featured tracks display an evolved sonic scope with opener “Eras of Ethos” shifting subtle synth notes for a minute and a half as the eerily confounding vocal echoes of “Prime for Thich Naht Hahn” and “Water Me Feat. Joy Tyson” haunts the senses with modular buzzing strands in slow-motion.

While various experimental electronic genres are dissected, Eden Grey focuses on the many noises in between; fragments of techno, ambient, industrial, modular, and dub seem to coalesce. Tracks like the thudding “Hi Kodek” provide just enough shadows to keep us shivering as the musique concrète mood of “Int-Hermit” and “Piston Honda Ltd. (Excerpt version)” rattle with hypnotic blips, fading bleeps, and shattered mechanics. Int-Interred is a baffling and murky electronic smorgasbord showcasing artistic range and cultivating unique, if not moody, arrangements.
