The Burning Century gathers and distills, shifts and rattles, yet somehow manages to seep into the subconscious. The prolific sonic masseur continues in his quest to electrify the senses, and this four track EP does just that. Minuscule synthesizer threads frolic on the 9-minute venture of “Wonderment” and its dizzying, subterranean strands eventually open into a fully-formed downtempo behemoth. Soundtrack sentiments aside, CRT focuses on the abstract, yet somehow blissfully provides just the right amount of emotive sparks on “Invisibility” surrounded by darker droning tropes and glitched beatwork hypnotics keeping us in constant (e)motion. The closing pieces (“Titanoboac” and “Gag Reel”) deliver a plethora of minimal techno-fusions and shuffled breakbeat synthetics respectively; ultimately rounding off this extended player at just the right duration to create an echo in space.
