A dreamy excursion
A grand unfolding of essences that portray the purest forms, creating the perfect backdrop for a large-scale visionary experience—such is Pathways by E J R M and Drifting in Silence. “Within these Walls” presents an elegant classic with its relaxing field sounds, simplistic backdrop and the gentle yet majestic ambient romanticism. “Silent Patterns” continues with an honoring of the melancholy, while still enabling a certain glow of lush and brighter sequences like sunrays breaking through the clouds. It assists in its ability to transport the listener into trance-like states with its whisper of gentle strings.
The title track presents the stillness of a clear night before the clouds roll in and skirt the moon—those deep reverberating piano tones bathed deep in reverberation. Deep pools of light expand as those stars and the moon itself reflects upon deep black lakes of musical impressionism. It is of course a most tranquil scene upon which to reflect inwards. “Remember this Time” is a dreamy excursion—and that really is the very essence of this offering—a dreamy self-portrait of a meditative nature. All five tracks bring with them a calming breeze upon the bare arms like a shiver of cool mountain air coupled with fresh scents of early wildflowers. Through the gently warming sun there emerges the warmth of an early morning glow—particularly with the aptly named “Solstice.”
