Dreadcore :: Ends EP (Self Released)

Rugged bass and an emotively packed 5-track EP with scorched rhythms aplenty, Dreadcore—perhaps a genre in itself and aka James R Baker—fine tunes the engines with Ends.

Drenched electronic mayhem with an emotional charge

Rugged bass and an emotively packed 5-track EP with scorched rhythms aplenty, Dreadcore—perhaps a genre in itself and aka James R Baker—fine tunes the engines with Ends.

There’s a magnetic pulse on “Hatemetrics” that can’t be ignored, a lost time capsule of broken notes slithering in the background with its hypnotic drum pattern acting as a ventricle. “Lockjaw” follows in a more dubstep approach—its half-beats cascading around fibrous low-end and thudding energy as “Ghostknife” is perhaps the most active track of the lot with shimmering breaks slicing through the darkness. “Cowardice” and “Happy Like a Tank” are run through muddy and dark-ambient layers still maintaining their post-industrial edge and proving to be sharper than most in the scene. A baffling foray into heavily drenched electronic mayhem with an emotional charge.
