Streaked with summer sun the entire 12” has an airy and bright aspect. Electro is the predominant style, but not the moody side of the genre.
Diffuse Arc managed to cause quite a stir with his first two 12”s. After founding Caustica Waveform, the Madrid based artist delivered the mechanical warmth of Messiah before the lush currents of Olivia hit the stores a few months back. On the crest of such productivity comes Teoria de las Ideas.
Streaked with summer sun the entire 12” has an airy and bright aspect. Electro is the predominant style, but not the moody side of the genre. Instead, tracks like “Realidad” flawlessly blend an edge of funk with warm rays of IDM. “Devenir” arrive from a similiar place. Electronica radiates, fluctuating notes dance and mingle in a superb synergy. A northern breeze blusters down as “Creencia” descends, colder chords and spartan percussion ushering in night. But such wintery climes are but a respite for further heat. Playful bleeps and liquefied synth introduces the cloudless closer of “Conocimiento.” Broad bars form the backbone from which analogue avenues criss-cross as clipped beats support.
I’ve been covering Diffuse Arc since his debut release. I’ve also had the pleasure of meeting him on a number of occasions and hearing the passion he has for electronic music. Listening back across the three releases you can truly appreciate the talent of this Madrilleno machine musician. From the space centered abstractions of Messiah and the textured techno of Olivia to the richness of this latest offering it is crystal clear that his man has talent. Expect him to be picked up on a label very soon is my guess.
Teoria de las Ideas is available on Caustica Waveform.
