Shoulder rubbing with the labels tagline of “High quality unfamiliar music.” Love Love and dgoHn have enlisted creative contemporaries from varying corners of the electronic sub-genre spectrum.

A full reworking from an all-star roster

It was the middle of summer in 2022 and the global heat levels were hitting all time highs. Whilst most of us were taking a moment in the shade as we patiently waited for a day of rejuvenating rain, Love Love Records doubled down and put out possibly one of hottest releases of the year. dgoHn’s Undesignated Proximate, LP (Love Love, 2020) gets a full reworking from an all-star roster on this 12-track suitably titled Undesignated Remixes.

Shoulder rubbing with the labels tagline of “High quality unfamiliar music.” Love Love and dgoHn have enlisted creative contemporaries from varying corners of the electronic sub-genre spectrum, featuring: Equinox, Meat Beat Manifesto, Coco Bryce, Macc, Wisp, Forest Drive West, Rognvald, Scrase, Djrum, Skee Mask, Quavis, and Carl Brown.

Seeing any one of these artists on a remix is enough validity to engage with a release, but having a b2b2b2b2b2b2b2b2b2b2b2b of this magnitude is what makes Undesignated Remixes, something for the ages.

A bit of extra spice peppered throughout ::

For the skeptics, perhaps with enough connections and a little bit of clout you too could have a dream-like line up, but it goes far beyond the name drops as the careful curation that has gone into each selection demands the respect it deserves. This is not the same as some super-band moment that often proves underwhelming. The common denominator is dgoHn’s excellent originals that are at the basis of this release and ultimately create the glue in such an expansive release. Each artist brings forward a carefully crafted version of what was already a highly considered original, just with a bit of extra spice peppered throughout to elevate to new heights whilst complimenting the overall project. I personally think it is a rare sight to see a remix LP be given so much attention to detail. The last I recall of such weight would have to of been Aho Ssan’s Simulacrum Remixed, which is almost a year apart!

Now that the weather has cooled, perhaps it is a good time to warm yourself up by indulging in Undesignated Remixes for all the wonderful variety in breaks that will certainly work you up in a sweat from front-to-back.
