Bogger :: per_haps EP (Digital Gadget)

Shuffling machine drum bleeps, low-end synth deformation, oscillators gone astray and rhythms breaking apart in a wash of percussive acrobatics.

Shuffling machine drum bleeps, low-end synth deformation, oscillators gone astray and rhythms breaking apart in a wash of percussive acrobatics—Jeff Pils returns as Bogger, and per_haps is his finest snapshot EP yet. The title track morphs and disperses itself into looped high-hats and rubbery distortion as “Micro” features direct and juddering electro tentacles to rumble old floor boards and massage brainwaves. “Error” takes on a glitch versus breaks dynamic as flickering blips and an early Aphex Twin electrical bass crunch takes shape. “Crash” reveals more technoid percussion of structured clicks and fluid robotics. As Bogger navigates through thumping exp-electro, he offers listeners a glimpse into what may be the workings of a sturdy full-length album. Definitely a subdued force that merits the attention of vinyl seekers anxious to disturb bassbins in the local night club, however, per_haps also does well in normalized listening environments.
