Billain :: Interceptor (single) (Renraku)

This 7-minute single explores broken techno and wraps them around disjointedly serene and rumbling drum’n bass blocks.

Explosively beautiful and nostalgic

Multi-talented Billain (aka Adis Kutkut) takes us into an explosively beautiful and nostalgic sound world where rattling beats, bass, and distortion find comfort within layers of overflowing melodious ambient swirls and breakcore fields. As the third and final single, “Interceptor” precedes a full album set for release April 8 titled Lands Unbreached.

This 7-minute single explores broken techno and wraps them around disjointedly serene and rumbling drum’n bass blocks. Symphonies of fractured electronics and crumpled drum work, Billain develops layers upon layers of sculpted sounds as “Interceptor” reveals at least three chapters: (1) the birth of our universe, (2) its powerful and luminous stellar explosion (supernova), and (3) The Big Crunch, where the expansion of the universe eventually reverses itself. Crafting a powerfully succinct smorgasbord, “Interceptor” takes us through sandblasted drums and heavy low-end acrobatics, pulling on heartstrings along the way, and leaving us in a cosmic trail of dust and debris. Simply gorgeous.
