Augen :: Tripulante (Self Released)

The sound textures will invite and transport the listener through various enigmatic landscapes where fluctuating drones meet tweaked abstract minimal grooves.

Enriched by kinetic moves and percolating electro dynamics

Augen is an abstract microtonal electronic project hailing from Portugal and headed by multi-faceted sound producer Gabriel Mendes. A few digital albums have been published under the Augen moniker as self releases or for micro indie labels. Loyal to his roots in downtempo and dub-stepping electronic music, Gabriel Mendes explores here post techno realms with a fancy for looped-out minimal sound structures and lysergic effects. This is not exactly your kind of relaxing soothing ambient music as the corpus of tracks gathered here almost have an electro-acoustic edge—consequently, and despite of its variety, it can not be categorized in the easy listening department. Tripulante wanders in the mid-conceptual register, enriched by kinetic moves and percolating electro dynamics. The music is well designed, with glimpses of emotions coming from beneath. The sound textures will invite and transport the listener through various enigmatic landscapes where fluctuating drones meet tweaked abstract minimal grooves. Fans of Murcof, Microstoria, Opal and a segment of the IDM scene will find a strong ally and noticeable recommendation for a stimulating and catchy headphone musical immersion.

Tripulante is available on Bandcamp.
