Aelk Minsur :: A EP (Self Released)

Aelk Minsur keeps vanishing into the most remote reaches of space with a surrounding thick fog, leading us into uncharted and intriguing passageways. Incredibly bizarre and worth the trip.

Uneven electronic mayhem

Aelk Minsur cuts five more tracks of completely uneven electronic mayhem for A, a self-release from December 2023—just when you thought he’d run out of ideas. With some keys softly tapping in the foreground to entice us into this odd soundscape, “19” commences with an unsettling pulse. I’ve always thought that Aelk Minsur’s sound would fit well with Skam; his funk and glitch is so appealing that it reminds me of good old Gescom.

With a gritty and dejected pace, “Lone Condition Like Smoke” scrapes across concrete with a rough exterior that creates a lovely yet messy soundscape. “11” is an atmospheric track that would work nicely as background “music” for almost any episode of The Twilight Zone. It is filled with static wonder and bubbling noises, while “27” has drifting chimes and raw echoes that finally fade away and reinvent themselves as a minimal techno wash of distraction. Ending with the enigmatic theme music of “A Century of Holds,” Aelk Minsur keeps vanishing into the most remote reaches of space with a surrounding thick fog, leading us into uncharted and intriguing passageways. Incredibly bizarre and worth the trip.

A is available on Bandcamp.
