Perhaps where early/mid-90s era Altern 8 and Soul Oddity find similar projections packed with enough grit and ruggedness to keep your attention firmly from start to end. A smattering of detuned vocodered voices and samples—sometimes front and center, sometimes buried in the mix—field recordings, tangled bleeps, and disjointed low-end bounce in all directions. The perfect sonic recipe harking back to familiar shape-shifting electronics merged with today’s music technology is exhibited with an untamed force.
