Brisk 13 minute audio morsels
Brisk 13 minute audio morsels from Ossa / Wake titled Ovis Canadensis sees its release with Schematic Music Company. Do we hear a steel tongue drum on “Oly Sunrise” and perhaps a bass bleep technoid highlight of 2021? Elsewhere, on tracks like the fidgety “Bear Costume,” tangled and bouncy beats flicker about as “Dinosaur Custom” rummages through similar spastic drums and exudes additional static dust buried just beneath the surface. With “Acid Mountain PRe_sET,” the EP evolves into extraterrestrial electronic mayhem—acidic squelching and smudged low-end thuds galore. But if there’s one tune we’ll continue to revisit, it’s the above-mentioned “Oly Sunrise” and its uplifting / positive message that “everything will be okay.” I sure hope so. Stay tuned for several “secret” remixes to be announced April 16 that will also be part of this release.
