VELOCITY :: October 5, 2019 (Seattle, WA)

The Velocity festival, hopefully the first in an annual series, helps fill part of the void left by Decibel Festival and simultaneously keeps Seattle on pace to dethrone Portland as synth capital of the west coast.

Velocity presented a synth trade show, workshops, and presentations related to electronic music gear, focused heavily on modular synthesis, followed by an evening of live performances showcasing talent from the Pacific Northwest and beyond. The festival was co-presented by Patchwerks, a brick and mortar synth shop and community hub which opened in 2015, and Modular Seattle, which organizes live events all year long. The festival, hopefully the first in an annual series, helps fill part of the void left by Decibel Festival and simultaneously keeps Seattle on pace to dethrone Portland as synth capital of the west coast.

Much of the event was live-streamed for those not able to attend in person, including many of the presentations and performances, with high-quality archived video viewable post-event.

Igloo Magazine’s Thomas Fang (Life Behind Glass) shot photos during the event featuring performers in the visual archive: Raica, Bana Haffar, Trust Anchor, Amulets, Sunfalls, Eric Schlappi, Ann Annie, Baseck.
