Experimental Electronic Music
Autechre’s Tri Repetae (Warp Records, 1995) marked a turning point in electronic music, fusing minimal rhythms, metallic textures, and abstract melodies into something both mechanical and deeply human. Three decades on, its futuristic pulse and experimental sound design still feel timeless, reaffirming the duo’s position as architects of music yet to come.
Electronic duo Autechre closed out the U.S. leg of their 2025 tour with two strikingly different New England performances — an intense, body-shaking set in Boston followed by a more exploratory, textural journey in Portsmouth, NH. Showcasing their mastery of sound design and space, the pair transformed each venue into a unique sonic environment before heading to Europe for the next phase of their tour.
By the late 1980s, Depeche Mode had found global success—but the U.S. remained elusive. Despite support from stations like WLIR and KROQ, mainstream America hadn’t caught on. That changed with 1990’s Violator. Riding the momentum of Music for the Masses and Depeche Mode 101, the band hit a creative high, delivering the album that would launch them into true worldwide fame.
It’s a meditation within a meditation, nested inside a larger invocation that defines the essence of Actions Made Audible—a work that firmly places itself within the Berlin School of music. Precision-engineered machinery with analog Mellotron tape loops feature layered structures, ambient textures, and an introspective flow.
Tempus Remixes (Mute, 2023) is a collection of four remixes from Pole’s Tempus (Mute, 2022), featuring Sleaford Mods, Rrose, and Alessandro Cortini.
These soundscapes exist within a delicate balance of fragility, inchoate shape and form yet held together with a structure and purpose set forth by the composer himself. It bears repeated listenings which will bear different fruit each time, and comes highly recommended.
