12 AM Not For Sleeping finds Ukrainian producer Bohdan Linchevskyi (aka Low Communication) sharpening his signature blend of broken rhythms, bass pressure, and warped sonic textures into a tightly focused, nocturnal world. Across original tracks and a suite of adventurous remixes, the record becomes a vivid study in fractured percussion and the restless reshaping of electronic form.
Broken beats rebuilt with vision
Bohdan Linchevskyi, hailing from Ukraine and operating under the alias Low Communication, follows previous releases with Byrd Out, Neotantra, and the EQ sublabel of ECU with 12 AM Not For Sleeping—a record steeped in broken rhythm, bass pressure, and sleekly warped distortion. It fuses fractured percussion with murmured spoken word and shadowy, ethereal undertones.
Leaning into the percussive heart of his sound, Linchevskyi detonates rhythmic fragments across tracks like “Bong” and “Break Will Save Us,” where jagged drum patterns split into metallic, mechanical landscapes. The title track twists through disheveled drill’n’bass forms, while “Aqua-CPU” plunges into vintage breakbeat mischief, its dark filaments linking back to the hazy opener, “Bitrate Mushrooms.” As the record unravels through a maze of shattered rhythm, “Promenade” glides with parallel beats and ghosted vocal fragments—surreal, weightless, and vividly alive.
For the second half of 12 AM Not For Sleeping, Linchevskyi opens his work to reinterpretation. Six remixes reassemble the originals into new sonic architectures. J-LOWER lowers the tempo of “Not Afraid Anymore” into a smoldering, downtempo drift, while Evry flips the same piece into a bright, kinetic pulse. The title track receives four distinct reimaginings from Eden Grey, DJ Track, Aderacid, and LAMEBOT—each turning frequencies inside out through shattered signal bursts, circuit-twisted forms, and brain-dance intensity that could stand as a mini-release on its own.
Everything culminates with “Nothing Before Us,” a storm of drum’n’bass propulsion and serrated synths closing the journey in electrified momentum. 12 AM Not For Sleeping stands as a meticulous exploration of rhythm’s extremes—an unrelenting study in percussive energy and the art of pushing electronic form just beyond its breaking point.
