Caldon Glover emerges as a striking voice in the modern dark ambient scene, crafting immersive soundscapes that blur the line between the cinematic and the surreal. With releases on renowned labels like Cyclic Law and Cryo Chamber, his work delves into the depths of post-apocalyptic atmosphere, ritualistic drones, and industrial textures, marking him as a standout figure in the genre’s new wave.
A hypnotic descent into a nightmarish ritual
Cal Glover-Wessel (also known as Caldon Glover) is part of a new generation of young sound artists working within the dark ambient music spectrum. In a relatively short time, he has succeeded in establishing a distinctive name for himself. Many of today’s prominent creators of brooding, abstract cinematic soundscapes have found a platform for their work thanks to the significant support of Cryo Chamber—now regarded as one of the most reliable and prolific labels for synthetic-driven modern dark electronic music. Labels like Cyclic Law, Winter-Light, and Fluttering Dragon also stand as legitimate successors to the legendary Loki Foundation.
Caldon Glover quickly rose to prominence in the dark ambient scene, thanks in part to an early contract with the renowned Cyclic Law. Last year, he released Metrophagy, an album that ranks among Cryo Chamber’s most compelling and uncompromising deep black ambient releases. The work featured contributions from respected artists such as Randal Collier-Ford, Atrium Carceri, and Cryobiosis.
His latest release, Eternal Night Radio, follows a similar stylistic path, delivering a cascade of dark droning frequencies, layered with telluric industrial percussion and experimental sonic textures. The album unfolds like a hypnotic descent into a nightmarish ritual, occasionally pierced by fleeting moments of ethereal beauty—most notably through the use of haunting vocal elements. The result is haunting, visceral, and mysteriously enthralling.
If you’re drawn to serious post-apocalyptic soundscapes that blend obsessive drone textures with organic and industrial elements, this album is not to be missed. Highly recommended for fans of immersive, abyssal cinematic experiences in the vein of Yen Pox, Vestigial, Endvra, Ajna, and Gustaf Hildebrand.
