Gibson‘s has been an eclectic trajectory searching for the perfect sound wave and its inner vibration; from the early 90s polymorphously mutating—Eight Frozen Modules, [a]pendics.shuffle, dubLoner, Bell Gardens, Bal Cath, Reverse Commuter, Kenneth James G., KJ Gibbs, Premature Wig… continual reinvention issuing in a genre-surfing discography—from neo-psychedelia, americana and dreampop to, notably, ambient, electronic and experimental sound design. Late period KJG has been all about ambient—from The Evening Falls (2016) to 2022’s Groundskeeping (handy history in “A restless musician” section) to Murals For Immersion (2024).

“In Whom My Eyes Are Gifted” shows the LA-based composer/producer continuing inquiry in evolving organic textures and electronic sound—see accompanying video below from Gregg Kowalsky (Kranky, inter alia). It illumines a mix of well-crafted instrumentation and immersive electronics seemingly imbued with the radiance and mineral granularity of the CA artist’s home. RIYL: Stars of the Lid, Tim Hecker, Loscil.
