Svanire is a delicate atmospheric album, a quite recommended experience for those who cultivate this taste of Zen in their own existence; a musical window to restore the soul with delicate harmonies. Sound therapy of bitter sweet melancholia to enlighten the heart.

Prolific sound artist and owner of the indie label Krysalisound—devoted to soothing ambient sounds and minimal-emotional electronic music—Francis Gri made a little reputation in the world of DIY micro editions thanks to his publications on Time Released Sound and Whitelabrecs. His usual compositional style includes softly moving piano sequences shrouded in a melodious vaporous aura, e-guitar droning waves, and subtly electronic meandering textures. Svanire follows the path of its predecessors but with even more emphasis on gently shifting moods, sparse melodic lines seconded by echoing effects and on the meditative silence between notes.

Everything here is inspired by the relaxing Zen-inflected natural beauty, a solemn and quiet departure from the brutality and noisy interferences of every days life in order to focus on the splendor of the inner-external world in its nude simplicity. This music suggests us beautiful philosophical images advocated by thinkers and ascetic poets of traditional Japan. In this regard l invite you to read my article about Japanese ambient-environmental music, about the aesthetic concept of mono no aware, you will find here analogies with artists such as Akira Kosemura, Sawako, Daigo Hanada, but here the mellow romantical mainstream elements are gone to let the listener be immersed in more primordial sounding timbres. The diaphanous sound textures and hypnotic-crystalline melodies obtained from piano pensive notes can also admit comparisons with artists such as Tristan Eckerson or classically trained new-age pianists such as W. A. Mathieu.

Svanire is a delicate atmospheric album, a quite recommended experience for those who cultivate this taste of Zen in their own existence; a musical window to restore the soul with delicate harmonies. Sound therapy of bitter sweet melancholia to enlighten the heart.

For those really into minimal ambient sceneries and warm neoclassical piano resonances with an experimental edge, l warmly advise to have a try on the now defunct 1631 Recordings as well as Piano and Coffee Records.
