A bewildering compilation of fifteen tracks, High Order Ov Load teeters on the brink of electronics and breakcore while remaining firmly on the dark side.

Hex Wolves has just released a powerful album aptly-titled High Order Ov Loud. It may even be regarded as a 6-pack EP of original works, yet it features nine (yes, nine) remixes from artists such Distinct Memories, Ad Valors, FTSM, XSIX, Volcifer, Cervello Elettronico, RECON, Vuxnut, and Chase Dobson. The end result is a sandblasted cacophony of post-industrial, toughened breaks, bass, piercing electronics, and noise. Hex Wolves’ contributions are all completely explosive, but three stand out in particular: “Bargin’ Barf Bin,” “We’re Not Alone,” and “Kept Saying,” a broken industrial giant with fidgety technoid synths.

With its unsettled mechanics and low-flying, sound-scraping experimentation, XSIX’s remix of “We’re Not Alone” chugs along, while Cervello Elettronico’s remix of “Tears & Shit,” a minimal-aggressive piece of audio work that leads us into the next decade with decaying beatwork, highlights the album. Perhaps the most melodious of the bunch, Chase Dobson’s remix of “Bargin’ Barf Bin” deviates from the original into the realm of sound design with glitch breaks and shifting echoes.
