O C O S I :: Low World Order EP (Ohm Resistance)

Low World Order seeks to replenish darker electronic passages and reaches further into the trenches of claustrophobic sound mangling.

An ebb and flow of gravitational arches, tempered beats, bass and atmospheric expansion

O C O S I (aka Paul Molyneux and Simon Smerdon) formed in London in the heyday of rave, creating downtempo, atmospheric bass-fueled beats and Low World Order follows-up their 373AHELL album (Ohm Resistance, 2021). This time around, five tracks are spread across 33 minutes of sprawling low-flying bass and slow-motion signal processes. The title track is its own entity of dust and debris—an ebb and flow of gravitational arches, tempered beats, bass and atmospheric expansion. “Nausea” crafts similar arcane terrain, eviscerated noises and scattered drones drift in a thick fog as “Loose Cannons” yields darker industrial shards and apocalyptic moods. “Sunny” might have been intended as the lighter piece on this EP, however, it chugs along with detuned tribal voices, coming across as hypnotically surreal and spell binding. The closing “Kneescraper” cascades with turbulent drones and tones lost in a sandstorm. As a result, Low World Order seeks to replenish darker electronic passages and reaches further into the trenches of claustrophobic sound mangling.
