RAN :: Birds (Adepta Atanor Collection)

It’s a treacherous drum’n bass maze to navigate—where braindance, extremely saturated beats, low-end breaks, and explosive rhythms collide with the might of a fully-loaded semi truck.

A brutal and blissful opening release

The Adepta Atanor Collection, which was just released by Adepta Editions, presents artists who operate in secret and display their work under a new alias. The debut features two tracks (“Birds” and “BTL”) that are separated into cyclic flows of spastic electronics and available as limited edition 8″ vinyl. It’s a treacherous drum’n bass maze to navigate—where braindance, extremely saturated beats, low-end breaks, and explosive rhythms collide with the might of a fully loaded semi truck. To get an idea of where RAN take their sound, consider some of the early pioneers such as A Guy Called Gerald, Goldie, Omni Trio, and Four Hero, as well as more recent artists such as ΠΕΡΑ ΣΤΑ ΟΡΗ (Pera Sta Ori), Ex.Hale, and Corporeal Face. “Birds” skillfully opens the drum’n bass, jungle, and breaks vault in this incredibly brief couplet, while “BTL” goes even deeper with scorched bass lines and flickering drums. It’s a brutal and blissful opening release that’s several miles in front of us.
