A surreal punch to the gut
There’s something in the Adepta Editions water that we just can’t stop drinking from. Release after release, and the Barcelona imprint continues to cultivate next-level breaks, bass, and wonderful distortion; curated by the ever-talented ears of Peter Furlan. Pulling together a vast array of sculptors from around this circular cosmic spot, Pearl River Sound (aka Roberto Semeraro) delivers, and delivers with a surreal punch to the gut. Right at the drop of the needle, “Acidduo” offers a classic breakbeat, acid-techno shuffling with early rave-era finesse. There are some heavier drill’n bass ragga infusions on “Ragga Bass” as the rhythmic flurry on “Rob of the D” packs amen breaks in the tightest formation. “Breakyweaky” slows the rave anthem groove down just a bit; slow motion breaks and bass thuds galore.
