Yaporigami :: Chaos Swallower EP (Analogical Force)

With a consistency for high calibre productions and inventively homaged compositions yet with a contemporary spin, this 5-tracker from Yaporigami feels right at home alongside their peers and is very much on brief for a release with the label.

A consistency for high calibre productions

Joining the heavy weight roster of Analogical Force with their debut EP for the label is Berlin-based Japanese artist Yu Miyashita (aka Yaporigami). From the get-go this EP breathes experience that is proven from Yu’s prior works. They have been making a name for themselves for quite some time, whether under their full name or Yaporigami moniker. Exploring their back catalogue includes releases on Detroit Underground, Mille Plateaux, Kaer’Uiks and their own imprint The Collection Artaud to name a pretty decent handful.

Every track here carries developed grooves, granular breaks, soothing pads and saturated synthesis. A layering throughout, somewhat synonymous to the braindance / IDM genres, is particularly laid out with intricacy on every transient—carefully equipped that never hits a level of OTT. Personal selection is “Damn It, Demon,” for its explosive drill’n’bass distinction whilst carrying a beautiful melodic hook—these delicate leads and chord progressions are pronounced throughout the entire EP, which give it much depth for repeat listening.

With a consistency for high calibre productions and inventively homaged compositions yet with a contemporary spin, this 5-tracker from Yaporigami feels right at home alongside their peers and is very much on brief for a release with the label. The Rolodex of Analogical Force is certainly one to be admired (and possibly a cracking compilation title for an anniversary release later down the line—you can have that for free AF…)!
