Each track dabbles in familiar territories such as electro, braindance and IDM and even some breaks and bass treatment—although each carry traits of each other instinctively through decades of amalgamation.
Crisp saturated kits and synth work
Electronic musician and IDM powerhouse Roel Funcken returns to top tier Analogical Force with a stonker of a 5-track EP titled Hexavalent. Initially released back in April, the vinyl has finally made it out of the door too—will these pressing plant delays ever catch up?!
Whilst on the surface we are met with crisp saturated kits and synth work to match that air on the intensive side, those familiar with the Funcken back-catalog will know all too well there are delicate nuisances throughout that ease the bass burn like some kind of soothing modular aloe vera—not that we have an issue with heat, this EP manages to give global warming a run for its money. I know, probably something I shouldn’t joke about—but in short, Hexavalent is pure fire!
Each track dabbles in familiar territories such as electro, braindance and IDM and even some breaks and bass treatment—although each carry traits of each other instinctively through decades of amalgamation, there are characteristics that only Funcken could hone to balance sub-genres into an effortless exploration.
Anyone that follows Roel Funcken will know that his output is prolific but never at a compromise for quality or structure overall. These 5-tracks feel suited together, yet showcase the wide variety they have expressed over many years of involvement in the electronic music scene.
