Here we go again, another exciting release by the ever dependable Point Source Electronic Arts. This time they present Mesaverde’s Triangulate, a disheveled darker thread of IDM and blistered breaks from the upper atmosphere (ref. “Parallel Motion.”) The abstract pitter-patter beatwork of “Sector 7G” takes us through microscopic audio slicing as it crescendos into further encrusted dystopia. And now we’re in for a treat.

Triangulate sets the stage for dense electronic mayhem, its backbone of imploding machines piercing each rhythmic jolt and videogame jab (“Protocol”) like a true sonic craftsman. The title track, just as frenetic and clustered with darker ambient motifs, slowly builds itself up as digital signals process in the background—a textural, mechanical avalanche.

Mesaverde (aka Shawn Shackelford of RENEGADE ANDROiD, Mike Slansky of Unterm Rad, REKT, and Alex Stilts of Feederwire, REKT) takes aim at a variety of soundscapes, fracturing glitch particles like nobody’s business (“Sure Enough”) and turning on IDM’s charm with the dizzying technoid buzz saw of “A Song for Zuzu” and the slow motion granular pulse of “Antichthon.” It’s all here triangulated for us mere mortals on Triangulate—an album we didn’t know was absolutely essential for the burgeoning glitch industrial scene.
