E_LPHABET :: Dooms Day (33)

Dooms Day doesn’t just create a picture of what the end of our known world might sound like, it accurately portrays a fine-tuned low-rumbling fissure of sonic booms that is simply hard to ignore.

Back in July—2012 we wrote about E_LPHABET’s Middle Line, also released via the Greece-based 33 Recordings. What was then a full-throttle bass’n grit affair is now a more controlled echo of similar distress signals. Dark, menacing, brooding bass paired against thumping rhythmic crackling has E_LPHABET (short for Electric Alphabet) tapering down the aggression and elevating the notion of moving electronic parts. Built and rebuilt, broken down and transformed into audible blocks, heavy bass-bin friendly slices rattle the floorboards with an immense power not unlike that of Einoma and Semiomine. Without delving into each particular void—the title track, “Hidden Danger,” Dope,” and “Dark Analog Phrase” are pinnacle quadruplet sparks. Dooms Day doesn’t just create a picture of what the end of our known world might sound like, it accurately portrays a fine-tuned low-rumbling fissure of sonic booms that is simply hard to ignore.

Dooms Day is available on 33. [Release page]
