As the entire package transmits a double-aura in terms of style, the midnight sky is lit with E_LPHABET’s brooding—if not moody—spatial frequency interruptions which are still filled with pleasant-rolling melodies floating among an avalanche of beats.
[Release page] Middle Line is an interesting animal in and of itself. Opening with the full=throttle Scorn-infested bass and grit of “Dub Pathology” and “Dark Night,” a strong display of fierce yet controlled percussion and eerie effects keeps the senses mystified in their extended duration. But just when you thought these creative spheres of undulating lows would continue pushing forward, the artist switches gears and pushes the remaining eight cuts of pulsating fury in the shape of raw drum’n bass. While the genre has taken many forms since the 90s—almost exhausting itself along the way—E_LPHABET takes a similar path in its fast-forward beats next to fierce basslines and inserts an atmospheric dose of melody (ie. “Melodium”). Hovering in the darkness with tracks like “Raining” and “Clear Dream,” it’s as if E_LPHABET’s intent was to draw the listener into a swirling abyss by way of slowly rotating bass featured on the introductory pair of tracks, only to leave you stranded in a drum’n bass manifesto of low-end that pushes boundaries by way of heavy-duty rhythmic loops of velocity. As the entire package transmits a double-aura in terms of style, the midnight sky is lit with E_LPHABET’s brooding—if not moody—spatial frequency interruptions which are still filled with pleasant-rolling melodies floating among an avalanche of beats. Well worth the free price of admission so grab it now while you can.
