Resonator by Cornwall, UK-based Hanetration, a five-piece collection of carefully woven ambient psychedelic electronics and intermittent downtempo, is back after a protracted hiatus. The auditory slow burn, distorted BoC-flavored horns, and decaying beats of “Breathe” set the mood, while “Human” exhibits a haunting shift of broken rhythms that gradually evolves into a full spectrum technoid framework. These oddly desolate soundscapes are where Hanetration finds resonance. While “Bones” delves into mesmerizing percussion patches and warped wind instruments, “Cage” offers delicate piano keys blending into nostalgic echoes halfway through. The brittleness of this track alone appears to carry the entire EP. Compared to its siblings, closure “Winter” feels a little darker, with barely perceptible granular tones piercing the backdrop. Eerie, retro electronics with a perplexing tremor of sound.
