MELT YOURSELF DOWN :: Release (Video)

melt-yourself-down_release_featI know I’ve mention the band Melt Yourself Down a few times recently, but that’s because they are mind bogglingly mental. You know how sometimes you hear a new band or artist and you get a little bit obsessed? That’s me right now with these guys.

Following on from news of their forthcoming album, here is a suitably intense and unhinged video for the track “Release,” which has just popped up as a new two track single available as a limited edition 12″ vinyl (500 copies only). Available to pre order now here and shipping from May 3rd.

The single leads with the track “Release” (video below), a chaotic, frantic panic inducing whirlwind of unstable energy built of saxophones trying to be punk guitars, lively dancey drums, driving basslines, dubbed out electronic blurts and disturbing vocal outpourings. It brings to mind an image of the cantina in the first Star Wars film, if the band had all taken amphetamines and the crowd were on a potent cocktail of acid, ecstasy, ketamine and whatever exotic mind altering substances the smugglers and bandits of Tatooine usually party with. Yeah, intense criminal aliens on drugs in a rough smugglers bar with the possibility of gunplay extremely present is about right.

Following that is a remix of “Fix My Life” by The Subliminal Kid. This remix provides a somewhat more subdued interpretation, although given the source material, this is never going to be a relaxed affair.
