Across 2025, hundreds of releases surfaced, with December granted space to settle. From that sweep emerged a carefully shaped collection of favorites, each paired with links to Igloo reviews and release pages. Arrangement follows artist names in alphabetical order, while a snapshot of tracks lives on our Soundcloud playlist, joined by random artwork highlights. No crowns, no rankings, no runners-up—only records that resonated.
A darker pulse simmers beneath Bordata, where DasF effortlessly melds bleak industrial electronics with fractured, acid-tinged textures. Across four tracks, the release carves tunnels of percussive abstraction, microtonal shards, and dystopian resonance, hinting at the full-throttle energy of a yet-to-come full-length.
Poised between sci-fi drift and ambient disintegration, this collection stands as a sleek, introspective traverse—shaped by three luminaries of experimental electronic art.

Highlighting hundreds of releases in 2024 (and allowing December to set in), we’ve compiled a list of our favorites along with links to their corresponding Igloo reviews and release pages. Since the lists are arranged alphabetically by artist—and a snapshot of tracks are featured in our Soundcloud playlist along with selected Bandcamp tracks and random artwork selections—there are, as usual, no winners or runners-up.
These multi-talented musicians easily fall into the scope of exp-electronics we embed ourselves within each and every day, while Mitoma’s distinctive remodeling gives these already potent recordings an additional level of reconstruction, or fragments.
Each track maintains a strong synth infusion gone awry with rough electro, breaks, and rhythmic distortion at the foreground.
Their previous album—FUTURISM (Section 27, 2022—was billed as “exploring the farthest reaches of sandblasted electronics,” and Like Phantoms is a smooth progression forward. Despite being “underground” since 2009, Section 27’s releases consistently push IDM and experimental electronic boundaries, inching closer and closer to the surface.
You might even draw parallels to the early works of Mouse On Mars, Autechre (“Gantz Graf” era), or even Richard Devine’s industrial-leaning sandblasted synthesizer techniques.
Here, isolation and cooperation coexist within the confines of dark electronics as lighter shapes and shades lurk in the background.
