At times some birds join in, overall compared to the tracks before that, I hear a softer wind sound and enjoy the sensation of extended existential ambience.
Christian Kleine’s tenth album is a pleasant departure from the standard; deftly showcasing electronics of the late nineties and immersing them in an emotional and sonic instrumental stew.
Developing a completely original style, the album feels cinematic and overflowing with a variety of intense field recordings and transformed found sounds.
Modal Operandi is a fulfilling listen. Tracks bear fruit through melodic complexity and the inclusion of quiet, often minute details that can be more and more readily detected on repeat listens.
Experimental music can mean many things—often tracks are beat-less or off-beat, atonal or noisy, or in some way either more or less dense than other genres. My point is not to establish orthodox genre boundaries.
It has very spacious music, minimal development, and is best enjoyed on a medium volume level, filling up your space without being too much of a presence.
An album that abandons any musical and communicative dogma to rediscover a direct link between rhythm and soul.
