If there were ever an EP that captured the intricate, ever-shifting rhythm of life through the lens of IDM, this would be it—vivid, alive, and soaring in full, resplendent color.
Interwoven with natural instrumentation
The sleek sonic design of electronic music, interwoven with natural instrumentation, allows Zwei Kreise’s Islands Tethered By Red Twine to ebb and flow between the otherworldly and the concrete. The simmering pulse of “Asomatic Tellurian Passengers” evokes echoes of classic Arovane and Phonem—rolling percussion paired with intricate, luminous motifs—while the subdued ambient flickers of “Forest Floor Leaves Ground To Pulverised Mica” feel unearthed from a bygone era, when electronic atmospheres carried a raw sense of wonder, introspection, and originality. Here, Zwei Kreise refines and defines his voice.
The cradle-soft harmonies of “Diagrams on the Semi-transparent Map of a World” summon emotional peaks reminiscent of past sonic landscapes, reimagined through a hazy lens. Closing piece “Refuge at Ceverrn Valley” introduces further downbeat percussion, aromatic transitions, and shimmering tones—conjuring a vivid memory, renewed. If there were ever an EP that captured the intricate, ever-shifting rhythm of life through the lens of IDM, this would be it—vivid, alive, and soaring in full, resplendent color.
