Stretched to the extreme, Wiretap paints a mind-altering snapshot of abandoned factories filled with rusted machinery, ancient punch-presses and ever shifting frequency boxes.
[Soundcloud] Sorin Paun retains a few alias’ under his belt—Randomform and Datacrashrobot seem to be the more prolific outfits over the years—the latest being Wirewound which radiates a chemically infused robo-mechanical pulse at the heart of it all. Often splattered with dark electronic rhythm explosions, Wiretap exhibits a high rev-rate of activated deconstruction, mind numbing distortion, glitch, noise, electro and crunchy beatwork. Operating more on an industrial pathway, Wirewound bends slivers of sound into full-throttle data pulsars. Without even mentioning the individual tracks featured here, it is clear that Wirewound’s sound is a drenched collection of buzzing crackles, torched synths and constantly morphing percussive pounding. Stretched to the extreme, Wiretap paints a mind-altering snapshot of abandoned factories filled with rusted machinery, ancient punch-presses and ever shifting frequency boxes. While Sorin finds a home for the Wirewound sound—filled with hard-hitting electro manipulations—Wiretap may come off as a brief summary of sonic mayhem that will eventually grow into its own. Definitive electronics that breaks the signal-to-noise barrier, this extended player should be approached with caution as these outer-level mechanical rhythms may come off as daunting and exhausting when fully consumed.
Wiretap is available on Stasis. [Soundcloud]
