Fall is A House Of Gold & Rain

[Release page] VoxxoV springs to life among the plethora of like-minded imprints vying to make a ripple in the proverbial ocean of sound. The birthplace of the label is apparently based in France and seems to have been birthed from one of Chroniques électroniques’ writers. Nonetheless, they were obviously inspired enough to reach out to a wide-ranging field of skilled musicians from around the globe. But if you take a closer look at the results of Fall Is A House Of Gold And Rain, you might see a resemblance to labels such as Tympanik Audio and Hymen although there’s a more relaxed IDM tone on display.

VNDL and Paskine shed light sparkles of dust and and minimal clicks as does Pleq—albeit with a focus on low-end emissions. Access To Arasaka’s subdued drones and microscopic strands of melody are offset by Frank Riggio’s warm, instrumental click’n bass. DNN dabbles within downtempo waters hailing a Loess-influenced flare just as Fedaden’s hypnotic rhythm and classical construct tapers away. TRDLX falls through similar lake beds of complex percussion which reveals a sort of Brothomstates sheen as Yvat parallels early Autechre frequency shuffling and melancholic plateaus. Atmogat’s minimized drum acrobatics and distilled melody evokes an upbeat charm as Melorman’s kaleidoscope of beat phasing keeps this aural machine running smoothly. Tapage introduces a playful electronic bubble of bass twisting as Normotone’s experimental guitar flicks, dark-ambient and click bending transforms the soundscape entirely. The most engaging of the lot comes from Infinite Scale’s vinyl crackles, eerie beauty and ambient whirs. Esoteric Sob’s tranquilized classical construct bounces off of ~Liv’s Oval’esque CD-skips with a contagiously melodic wash of colors. R.roo’s extraterrestrial dub versus Kesson’s scorched audio crunching and distracted tempo’s round off this compilations minimal oeuvre.

Predominately ambient with vivid doses of current IDM fluctuations and downtempo structures are brought forward with a sense of careful balance and order.
