transient :: abide EP (Self Released)

Five fun-packed tracks with just enough energy to keep us interested, while not to take itself too seriously.

An ultrasonic thrill ride

Polished 8-bit IDM escapades from transient (aka Carl Martin—making music with mobile devices and other peripherals since the early 90s via mp3.com, Monotonik, Noisy Vagabond, et al), abide is an ultrasonic thrill ride. Bright melodics and upbeat rhythmic beat shuffling takes over on “bace,” the opening piece. “day bed” is a smoother traverse of downtrodden glitch and spacious echoes (fans of Monolake and Proem take note). As the EP expands, videogame soundtracks take shape as noted on “powerful place,” while the title track flickers brisk beats and ricocheted notes at a much higher pace. “single card” captures transient’s immersive side, funk grooves to keep everyone smiling at the end of the day. Five fun-packed tracks with just enough energy to keep us interested, while not to take itself too seriously.

abide is available on Bandcamp.
