An explosive tectonic EP that ventures in the dark sans navigation—grasping at non-linear electronics from the deepest fissures of our Earth’s crust. Simply baffling.
From the deepest fissures of our Earth’s crust
“Non-standard sequencing and very little quantization was used for every track—I wanted it to feel like a damaged but living and breathing thing.” ~ TL3SS
TL3SS presents a half-dozen mechanically arcane pieces on Debride for Errorgrid. Skeletal remains of glitch-blasted electrical conduits on fire, the slow motion pace at which TL3SS administers these dark sonic environments is as turbulent as can be.
Opening with the title track, one can easily find an unusual comfort in these left-field industrial soundscapes; the scrapping, echoed beats and off-center rhythm keeps us focused as the EP continues. “Susurrate” comes to life upon its opening seconds, trudging along with low-end rumbling noises and sandblasted drums. And as we move forward, TL3SS expands and contracts his sound; “Abstraction I” delves through darkened pseudo-electro wanderings as its alter ego, “Abstraction II,” fires at all cylinders with Sci-fi motifs and eventually dissolves in front of our eyes/ears with sizzling synthesizer squelching. The downtrodden groove persists as “Choice Paralysis” dives into ethereal worlds; a splintered audio slice that leads us to the eerie dark drone and technoid fissures of the closing track, “Crawling Through The Gutter.”
Overall, an explosive tectonic EP that ventures in the dark sans navigation—grasping at non-linear electronics from the deepest fissures of our Earth’s crust. Simply baffling.
