(01.10.05) Along the lines of the Apropa’t LP that came out earlier last year on Warp
Records, the Manana EP is filled with nylon stringed guitar melodies and has an unmistakably Spanish feel. The work of producer Guillermo Scott Herren and vocalist Eva Puyelo Muns, this EP is more organic and developed than Apropat, and at 28 minutes it’s almost enough for another album entirely. The arrangements are lush and organic, and the vocals, some of which have been treated and all of which are in Spanish, are harmonious. The music varies from the straight-forward and laid-back beats of “Sota L’Aigua” and “No Pueda De Cidir” to CD-skipping rhythms of “Dema Vindra,” to beatless soundscape of “Eqipatge Des Flors Seques.” If you’re a fan of Mr. Herren’s work thus far, you’ll certainly want to add this to your collection. In addition, the front and back of the CD cover feature nice paintings by Maya Hayuk.

Manana is out now on Warp Records.
