Rico Casazza :: Vapor Pad Remixes (Loose Lips)

Rico Casazza’s latest contribution to the world of abstract electro, broken beats, breaks, bass, and synthesizer rhythms from outer space now takes the shape of a remix collection. Vapor Pad Remixes feels like a proper album. Sure, its remixers explore vast new terrain, yet it all coalesces into one multifaceted and well executed assortment.

Rico Casazza’s latest contribution to the world of abstract electro, broken beats, breaks, bass, and synthesizer rhythms from outer space now takes the shape of a remix collection of his tempered glitch-electro stream of subconscious “Vapor Pad” taken from the 2016 Loose Lips Compilation Album #10. While it’s usually tricky to pin down compilations as the contributors each have their own unique voice, Vapor Pad Remixes breaks this pre-conceived notion, yet flows from start to end. The Amousement remix comes across like a lost Clark artifact—hypnotic echoed drums ricochet around hidden atmospheric notes. The Eraldo Bernocchi remix is a tranquil sleeping giant—its dusty ambient fissures slide by effortlessly as chilled notes breath into life. There’s the dub-laden rhythms by KP Sessions to the delicately rolling AFX-styled acid shards courtesy of Tudor Acid (premiered here), to the charcoal grit and bass of V Stok. T-Scale maneuvers low-end audio slabs with wicked precision as Fred Brooks goes down memory lane via minimal clicks and cuts running alongside lo-fi ambient dub extracts that fans of early Pole will certainly enjoy. Vapor Pad Remixes feels like a proper album. Sure, its remixers explore vast new terrain, yet it all coalesces into one multifaceted and well executed assortment.

Vapor Pad Remixes is available on Loose Lips July 26, 2019.
