Another exciting retro-modern album, Deep Desert Dweller is a great example of when an artist truly gets the Detroit sound of the early 90s.

Consistently delivering a sense of vast wonder

Another exciting retro-modern album, Deep Desert Dweller is a great example of when an artist truly gets the Detroit sound of the early 90s. It’s not just about the sounds and the patterns, but also about a general sense of futurism, of exploration of the deep seas, the farthest limits of space, or the darkest depths of the human mind. This album has all of that, from touching on all the stylistic pillars of genre, tipping its hat to all the great ones that came before, and most of all consistently delivering a sense of vast wonder. Very much in the vein of techno that transcends the dancefloor like Kenny Larkin or Jeff Mills—taking you on a journey while still being firmly rooted in the classic, familiar, and soothing sounds that we all love so much. Despite the desert and Dune themes of the album—the vibe here is very Mills, and calls to mind a journey into deep space to a new planet. Its ability to walk the line between warehouse techno, ambient drifting, and acid scribbling is quite remarkable!
