Norfik :: Heartbreak EP (Satellite Era)

An EP filled with baffling and tightly knit electronic flutter submerged in a dense and serene percussive soup.

Refined atmospheric blur’n bass

Breaks, bass, and blissful drums, Heartbreak sees Jeff Gill (aka Norfik) at his prime. Crafting densely packed tracks with shuffled rhythms that are polished to a sheen. Crisp and crunchy melodic strands weave through opener “Greed,” as “Denial” moves into ethereal, dreamlike states of consciousness where kaleidoscope rhythms and textures pulse and flicker. Norfik drafts colorful sonic vistas throughout Heartbreak where synth swirls blend into each other and densely layered drums interact with our environment (“Into Action.”)

These are simply beautifully crafted soundscapes for nostalgic escapes. Only midway through, and the maze of thickened beats continue to evolve, breakdown and simmer—reference the title track. The refined atmospheric blur’n bass of “Granular Motion” and closing “Approach,” showcases Norfik’s sense of balance in a whirlwind of heavy drums.

An EP filled with baffling and tightly knit electronic flutter submerged in a dense and serene percussive soup that reminds us earlier works from A Guy Called Gerald, Omni Trio, and Adam F. Perfection.
