Lobie :: Cosa (Point Source Electronic Arts)

It goes without question that Cosa is a fully-formed and beat-infested swarm, etching a bricolage of musical pathways.

Glitch electronics from another dimension

Bold and expressive glitch electronics from another dimension. Lobie (aka Nils Lobie) presents Cosa; an unrelenting 15-track audio manifest from an imprint that’s been on a steady incline as they expand their roster. Shuffling erratic tones and sparks fly at all angles within Cosa. Starting with “Choppa” and its flickering industrial glitch shards, to the more tranquilized “Sixish,” that manages to slice and dice mechanical slabs and disjointed rhythms. It’s a whirlwind of sonic activity merged with disheveled blips and bleeps that continues to propel itself into the upper atmosphere (reference “Burn” and “Bdub”). Even the calmer tracks such as “GE-28c8” and “CME” evolve with subtle yet complex Autechrean acrobatics as Lobie decimates soundscapes chiseling their way through. It goes without question that Cosa is a fully-formed and beat-infested swarm, etching a bricolage of musical pathways. Lobie quite accurately describes his sound as “Machine-assisted explorations through irregular textures, polyrhythmic shapes, and low frequency vehicles,” and we could not agree more.
