Dark Woods is an explosive burst of dub-infused electronics that feels both intense and fleeting, barely giving you enough time to catch your breath before it wraps up.
A raw, relentless exploration
Berlin-based Lars Hemmerling’s Dark Woods EP, released on Mindwaves‘ G.DUBS sub-label, is a raw, relentless exploration of bass, beats, and echo-driven dub. The opening track, “Stereolab,” unleashes a thunderous industrial pulse, swirling in a hypnotic, chaotic flurry of sound. The title track follows, cutting through glitch-laden noise, enveloped by a deep, rumbling drone and turbulent rhythm. These are sonic landscapes from beyond the void—futuristic dub vibrations pulled from the farthest reaches of space. Closing with “Lochdown B,” the EP spirals into a stark, adventurous mix of breaks and intricate sound design, evoking the darkest corners of this terrestrial planet. In sum, Dark Woods is an explosive burst of dub-infused electronics that feels both intense and fleeting, barely giving you enough time to catch your breath before it wraps up.
