Kisser :: Fields of Domodedovskaya (Mestnost)

A strong album producing brute forces with the least amount of fuel—at least to our ears. Kisser has incorporated non-linear aspects of braindance, IDM, ambient, and noise into abstract structures on Fields of Domodedovskaya.

A soundscape that pulses with left field exploration

A strong album producing brute forces with the least amount of fuel—at least to our ears. Kisser has incorporated non-linear aspects of braindance, IDM, ambient, and noise into abstract structures on Fields of Domodedovskaya. The artist plays with sandblasted electronics within these roughened rhythms (“Tropical Illusion,” “The Serpents Egg”). On the other hand, the opening track “Yellow Sail” weaves through a multitude of broken breaks and simmering techno, while the title track, an epic transmission spanning just over 11 minutes, finds the artist drawing on cryptic technoid realms and wide-open echoes.

It’s not quite that simple, though, as the album also reveals sources of light that are beyond comprehension on tracks such as “Orekhovo Sunset,” where shimmering noises and deeper rhythmic grooves combine with ambient-techno flutter, while “Darkwing Kisser” provides a swirling industrial density that draws us into a vast emptiness, pixelated audio clutter, and embarks on an illbient voyage. Fields of Domodedovskaya is an engrossing assault on the senses with a soundscape that pulses with left field exploration.
