A baffling and fresh take on experimental electronics
Remnants of Clark and Ital Tek production qualities emanate from Kab Driver’s Little Smoke EP featuring four originals, and The Person (aka Primary Node) remixing its title track with sandblasted vocoder and robotic electro shenanigans to close things off on a high note. Squelching synths and acidic breaks’n braindance blend across each piece with bubbling bass rhythms as the title track takes the cake with fidgeting beats and heavy low-end ruffles, bells, whistles, and a sprawling electronic symphony for the ears and feet. “Hatfield Street” shakes up its instrumental prowess and broken beat acid flexing as “Messy Face” delivers a more heartfelt downtempo strain of drum and bass fissures. “Wake Up Time To Die” continues in a parallel pathway; its drum infested beauty worth taking note of as the rumbling continues. Such a baffling and fresh take on experimental electronics to push us through this decade as we look forward to a follow-up full length, hopefully.
