The soundscapes express peaceful, soothing, warm, and mellow passages dominated by a straight dialogue between evocative guitar sequences in a minimalist mood. Hypnotically fixed pulses gravitate calmly around floating synth sequences while the emotional path is devoted to thoughtfulness and inner tranquility.

Founder of the DiN electronic music label, Ian Boddy is one busy man maintaining a high level of production, in solo and in collaboration, also welcoming new and innovative talents. He made a name and gained a solid reputation along the years. He is often known as a pioneering sound artist in the space-music galaxy which raised in the early 80s on the ashes of the Berlin cosmic school of electronic music. DiN production is regularly reviewed on Igloo so I guess this presentation is useful for new(er) readers.

With his recent releases, Ian Boddy confirms a slight new musical direction with the omnipresence of beat-laden modern electronic textures, based on advanced technologies and built on resolutely cinematic, accessible and melodiously inclined patterns. Meridian marks the third collaborative effort between Ian Boddy and the ambient guitarist Erik Wøllo.

A beatific, softly entrancing atmosphere prevails on Meridian. Recommended for listeners who are curious about DiN’s latest development around the notions of glimmering textures, patterns, and motion. Fans of Tangerine Dream (Virgin and Melrose era), Richard Wahnfried, Ashra, Mark Shreeve, and other representatives of slowly shifting ambient atmospheres based on new technologies, won’t be disappointed.

Meridian is available on DiN.
