On Zooproxiscopy we find Hanut Munson deliver tranquilized electronic layers of dust where delicate pitter-patter beats flutter in the wind and melodic notes drift somewhere in the margins while simultaneously moving colorful sound images.

Blending organic electronica and hauntological worlds

On Zooproxiscopy we find Hanut Munson deliver tranquilized electronic layers of dust where delicate pitter-patter beats flutter in the wind and melodic notes drift somewhere in the margins while simultaneously moving colorful sound images. As eloquent as a walk through the park at sunset, each piece is sun-soaked with nostalgic audio bursts, calm in their demeanor and yet with an air of subdued Boards of Canada influences (listen to “Non Bartokian Drums On The Field” as a great example). More downtempo strains evolve on tracks like “Intrusion Or Dialogue” where slow-groove guitar strings and lounge-infused spaces pulse with crisped beatwork. The title track also offers familiar sonic terrain where far away memories are pulled to the foreground—a Campfire Headphase in full effect. If this EP represents Evel’s next step into more relaxed electronic listening, then they’ve far surpassed this goal. “Air Bridge” and “Earthly interlude” are perhaps the sweetest tunes we’ve heard this year—gentle shuffling drums and instrumental elements float in a kaleidoscopic haze creating a breath of fresh air. A half-dozen slices of life to get you through daily distractions, Zoopraxiscopy carefully provides solace and comfort blending organic electronica and hauntological worlds together.

Zoopraxiscopy is available on Evel. [Bandcamp]
